Posted on May 6, 2014

The Edgar Allan Poe House has reopened in Baltimore. It will be open on weekends starting May 24. Poe lived in the home, located at 203 North Amity Street, from 1833 to 1835. The home is one of three existing homes where the famous writer resided.

The Poe House contains a self-guided tour which includes exhibits about Poe's foster parents and his life and death in Baltimore. It also contains some of the poems and short stories he wrote while living in Baltimore. There are also artifacts such as Poe's chair, lap desk and a telescope.

The Poe House will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. through December 28, 2014. Thriller write Steve Berry will be the featured speaker at a fundraising event to help preserve the Poe House.

The website for the Poe House can be found at: poeinbaltimore.org.
