Deal Cut for Spanish Edition of ESPN Magazine

ESPN, Inc., in association with Editorial Televisa, will publish a monthly Spanish-language edition of ESPN The Magazine beginning later this year. The magazine, which will bear the ESPN Deportes name, will be available on newsstands and via subscription. The announcement was made by George Bodenheimer, president of ESPN, Inc. and ABC Sports, and by Eduardo Michelsen, chief executive officer, Editorial Televisa.

The Spanish-language edition of ESPN The Magazine will offer a mix of original content targeted to the interests of U.S. Hispanics, along with material from the English-language edition of The Magazine and contributions from Editorial Televisa. Editorial is expected to include coverage of Major League Baseball, as well as Caribbean and Mexican League baseball; boxing; NFL; Latin American, European, and international soccer; auto racing; action sports; and more.

A preview edition is planned for May. Editorial Televisa will publish and distribute the magazine. Editorial content, ad sales, and subscription sales will be a collaborative effort between ESPN, Inc. and Editorial Televisa.
