Posted on October 11, 1999

F&W Publications, publisher of how-to magazines and bestselling genealogy books, has launched Family Tree Magazine and a companion website to help readers discover their family history. The new magazine hits newsstands on Nov. 2. The website launched on Wednesday, Oct. 6, with an array of tools and search engines.

Family Tree Magazine will cover all the areas of potential interest to family-history enthusiasts, such as ethnic heritage, family reunions, scrapbooking and historic travel. After two pilot issues, on sale in November and in February 2000, Family Tree Magazine will be published bimonthly. The cover price will be $3.99.

"This is the next great American pastime -- and passion -- for the 21st century," says Family Tree Magazine editorial director David A. Fryxell. "As we enter a new millennium and as the Baby Boom generation ages, we're rediscovering our roots and exploring our personal past."
