France Issues Harry Potter Stamp

Posted on March 14, 2007

Jo Rowling has had so many exciting things happen to her since she invented Harry Potter and Hogwarts. She's about to have yet another thrilling thing happen to her -- and her characters. France is issuing official Harry Potter stamps. The French postal service cooked up a deal with Warner Bros. to create a set of ten stamps featuring characters from the books.

The collection featuring Harry, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, costs e6.18 ($8.10) and was unveiled at La Fete du Timbre et de l'Ecrit 2007 (Stamp Festival) on Saturday in 115 cities in Gaul. The fest continues throughout March.

"To be immortalized on a postal stamp ranks among the highest of honors," said Brad Globe, prexy of WB Consumer Products.

It is a great honor. And it's a pretty cool thing for an author to send a postcard from France with one of her characters on the stamp.
