Free Comic Book Day 2016 is Saturday May 7th

Posted on May 6, 2016

Free Comic Book Day is tomorrow, Saturday, May 7, 2016. This is a great way to grab a free comic or introduce a friend to the world of comics. Yes, the comics are really free. All you do is find a participating comic book store in your area by searching here using your zip code.

Each store has different rules about how many free comics each person can receive, so after you find your local store you might want to give them a call with any questions. Free Comic Book Day began in 2002. Comic book stores all over the world participate. The purpose of the event is to thank the fans and to introduce new fans to the genre.

Each year a panel of people from the industry get together to determine what comics will be given away. Retailers, publishers and suppliers all work to create a group of comics that will be given away for no charge. Diamond Comic Distributors handles the logistics, shipping and marketing.

This year's titles include Archie #1 FCBD 2016, Avengers #1 FCBD 2016, Dark Horse Serenity/Hellboy/Aliens FCBD 2015 Edition, Doctor Who: Four Doctors Special FCBD 2016 Edition, Assassin's Creed FCBD 2016 Edition, DC Super Hero Girls, #1 FCBD 2016 Edition, Strawberry Shortcake #0 FCBD 2016 Edition and many, many more. As you can see, there is something for all ages and tastes. In this video actor and writer Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dollhouse, Suburgatory) talks about Free Comic Book day and the chance to score the debut issue of Spectrum, which is part of his and Nathan Fillion's web series Con Man. The crowd funded show follows the adventures of the stars of a cancelled sf tv series and is loosely based on Fillion's and Tudyk's post-Firefly adventures.
