Free Comic Book Day is May 3, 2014

Free Comic Book Day falls on May 3rd this year. The event is always held on the first Saturday in May. This is the 13th year for the annual event celebrating comics. This year's event is sponsored by DK Publishing, TNT's Falling Skies series and Games Workshop. Nearly 2,000 comic book shops will be giving away comics this year.

Some of the free comics available this year include The New 52 Futures End special edition from DC Comics, VWars from IDW Publishing, which chronicles the first Vampire War, and Rise of the Magi by Marc Silverstri. There is also a Guardians of the Galaxy comic that welcomes Venom and Captain Marvel to the team. There are also comics featuring Archie, Hello Kitty, SponeBob, Jellaby, Atomic Robo, Sonic the Hedgehog, Streetfighter, The Smurfs, Tick and more.

A list of participating stores can be found on freecomicbookday.com. You can find a list of the free comics that will be available here. Comic fans are advised to arrive early as some comic shops may have lines for receiving the free comics.
