Gabrielle Giffords and Mark Kelly to Publish Book on America's Gun Debate

Posted on February 15, 2014

Former Congressman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, are publishing a book about America's gun debate with Scribner. The book is called Enough: Our Fight to Keep America Safe from Gun Violence. It will be published in June 2014.

Scribner says the book provides a powerful argument for responsible gun legislation. The book also details Gabby's ongoing recovery from the January 8, 2011 shooting in Tucson, Arizona. The book was inspired by an opinion essay Gabby wrote in the New York Times about gun legislation. Her essay was published in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting. The couple have also founded Americans for Responsible Solutions, an organization created to promote responsible gun legislation in the U.S.

Kelly says in a statement, "'Enough' was one of the first words Gabby said to me after we learned about the Newtown, Connecticut massacre. As Second Amendment supporters and gun owners ourselves, we hope our book rouses the long-overdue conversation our country needs to make responsible changes to our gun laws so that no more precious lives are lost."
