Gallery Books has announced it will publish a memoir by Grace Jones. Tricia Boczkowski will edit the currently untitled memoir, which is scheduled for publication in Fall 2014.
Grace Jones is the third of seven children and the daughter of a Pentecostal minister. She moved to the U.S. from Jamaica as a teenager. She was signed to a top modeling agency in New York at age 17. While modeling in Paris, she shared an apartment with Jerry Hall and had sleepovers with Jessica Lange.
She recorded three disco albums while becoming a muse and collaborator to Andy Warhol and a fixture at Studio 54. After the disco era faded, Jones embraced new wave music and released successful new albums, including Warm Leatherette, Living My Life, Slave to the Rhythm and Nightclubbing. Grace also adopted her signature look during this time period. Her look was created in partnership with artist Jean-Paul Goude, with whom she later had a son, Paulo. Grace Jones has also starred in several films, including A View to a Kill and Conan the Destroyer.
Grace said in a release, "I wrote a song called Art Groupie. First line said 'I'll never write my memoirs' that was a long time ago. Since then, I thought, if I don't do it, somebody else will."
