George R.R. Martin Sells One Million Ebooks for Kindle
Posted on September 19, 2011
Amazon.com announced today that George R.R. Martin just became the latest author to sell more than one million ebooks in the Kindle store. Martin newest book is A Dance with Dragon, which is the fifth book in the bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire series. The books have been adapted into the HBO hit Game of Thrones.
Other authors who have hit the milestone include Stieg Larsson, James Patterson, Nora Roberts, Charlaine Harris, Lee Child, Suzanne Collins, Michael Connelly, John Locke, Janet Evanovich and Kathryn Stockett.
Russ Grandinetti, Vice President of Kindle Content said, "George R.R. Martin's series is simply epic. And an elaborate series like this is great on Kindle because you can turn the last page of book three at 10:30 at night, then buy book four and be on its first page at 10:31."
George R.R. Martin issued this statement about the achievement: "Groucho Marx once said, 'I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member,' but even Groucho might have made an exception for the Kindle Million Club. It's a real thrill to be inducted into this one. There are no dues, no meetings, and I'll be in some wonderful and exclusive company. But really, all the credit here goes to the people who made it possible -- to Amazon, my publishers, my editors, and most of all, my readers. I owe this to everyone who ever read one of my books and recommended it to a friend. Thanks... and keep reading. The best is yet to come."
