Geri Halliwell to Write Children's Books

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is going to write a children's book, according to The Book Standard.

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has struck a deal with Macmillan to write a series of books for children. The six-book series will be targeted at children aged 5 to 8, and is set to launch at the rate of one book a month from May 2008.
Each story will centre around 9-year-old Ugenia Lavender, an "incredible kid who has heaps of attitude and brainwaves like bolts of lightning," as she meets celebrities on her "contemporary" adventures.
Macmillan Children's Books has signed a deal for world rights. The former Spice Girl, who became a mother last year, will record a promotional song to accompany the series and will also read the audio editions. The advance has not been disclosed.

It's all becoming clear now. In order to write children's books, first one must become a famous pop star or comic. Then, after that career is going well you'll get offered a book contract. Makes perfect sense to us. And it certainly keeps the ghostwriters in business. Because we wouldn't want actual writers writing children's books. That's so 90s.
