HarperCollins Closing HarperStudio Imprint

Posted on April 6, 2010

HarperStudio is closing down. The summer 2010 titles will be last books published by the imprint. The fall titles will be picked up by other imprints. The HarperStudio imprint offered authors a lower advance in exchange for higher royalties.

Publishers Weekly says Michael Morrison, president and publisher of HarperCollins general books group and Canada, sent a memo around that said "all of our imprints are happy to discuss profit share scenarios on a book by book basis."

A report in the L.A. Times says HarperStudio "will release its final books this summer and its remaining staff will be absorbed by other imprints at Harper Collins."
