Harry Potter Director and Screenwriter to Bring Stephen King's The Stand to the Big Screen

Posted on August 21, 2011

Hitfix reports the Harry Potter dream team of director David Yates and screenwriter Steve Kloves will bring Stephen King's The Stand to the big screen. There was a miniseries adaptation of the book that aired in 1994.

The story will either be told in two films, or possibly three. After Ron Howard's ambitious plan to bring King's The Dark Tower to life across multiple platforms (films, a tv show and games) got ditched, many are wondering if Warner Bros. will go for a big budget trilogy in these days of tight budgets. The dismal performance of Cowboys and Aliens didn't help.

In any event, we think Yates and Kloves will do an amazing job on the project.
