Homestore.com to Feature Content From Sunset Publishing

Posted on April 28, 2000

Homestore.com, Inc., an online network for home and garden information, has entered into a new alliance with Sunset Publishing Corporation, a publisher of home and garden books and magazines. Under the terms of the agreement, Homestore.com will license content from ten popular Sunset books on topics including home decorating ideas, remodeling, gardening and backyard tips. Consumers will have access to this information on the new ``Lawn and Garden'' tab on the Homestore.com site.

``Sunset Publishing has been a recognized leader in providing top quality home decorating do-it-yourself information to consumers for generations. Their descriptive, informative text is accompanied by sharp, full-color photography that will motivate and jumpstart the imagination of consumers looking to remodel or redecorate both the interiors and exterior of their homes,'' said Stuart Wolff, chairman and chief executive officer of Homestore.com, Inc. ``The addition of Sunset's content to our site significantly augments what we currently offer to consumers -- the most comprehensive home-related information under one roof.''

``We will be digitizing some of our best and most popular home-related books for integration into the Homestore.com site,'' said Steve Seabolt, President of Sunset Publishing. ``This is a great opportunity for us to take a major step into the online arena, allowing us to offer our award-winning content to a wider and ever-increasing audience.''

Sunset's lawn and gardening content will serve as the cornerstone of Homestore.com's new 'Lawn & Garden' tab. The new Homestore.com site provides encyclopedic advice and inspirational ideas in the ``Growing Basics'' section, as well as human-interest stories for gardeners of all skill levels in the ``Features'' area. In the ``Lawn and Landscape,'' ``Outdoor Projects,'' and ``Outdoor Living'' areas, consumers can find hints and tips on maximizing their yards. The new lawn and garden section will also feature other ideas for outside renovation -- from deck building and fencing to patio decor.

Sunset has covered Western lifestyle for more than a century, providing readers with news of Western gardening, cooking, travel and food. The five regional editions (Pacific Northwest, Northern California, Southern California, Southwest, and Mountain) reach 5 million readers each month. Sunset publishes more than 200 food, garden, and home repair books.
