Idea Cafe Acquires X-startup.com to Reach Gen-X Entrepreneurs
Posted on November 5, 1999
Idea Cafe LLC has announced the acquisition of Xstartup.com. Idea Cafe will add Xstartup.com to Idea Cafe as an area to serve Generation X entrepreneurs. Idea Cafe is a website featuring information, interactive tools, forms and resource guides on starting and running a business.
Xstartup.com was founded in early 1999 by Alex Carter, a 23-year old web-development entrepreneur in Ames, Iowa. According to Carter, "There is a powerful phenomenon taking place with Generation X right now in the business world. Recent estimates say that nearly a third of the people who launched new businesses last year were under the age of 30. Many young people, like myself, are opting to 'just say no' to career day and are forging their own path. That's why I started startup.com to help peers in business and to show what Gen X'ers accomplish."
"Idea Cafe has information covering all aspects of starting, financing and running a small business, plus the CyberSchmooz chat forum -- all of great help to my GenX viewers. And Xstartup.com gives insight on what young entrepreneurs are achieving, which interests Idea Cafe regulars of all ages," said Carter of the acquisition.
