IDG Books Appoints Elgey to Head New Consumer Group

IDG Books Worldwide, Inc. has announced that Roland Elgey, a former Macmillan senior executive, has joined IDGB to lead the company's new Consumer Publishing Group. As Senior Vice President of Consumer Publishing, Elgey will be responsible for developing and expanding the For Dummies trade books and Cliffs Notes, acquired last December, as well as extending IDGB's presence into new consumer areas.

Elgey served in various capacities at Macmillan, from 1989 to January 1999, including vice president of retail sales, president and publisher of Que, and most recently as senior vice president of Macmillan General Reference.
Prior to Macmillan, Elgey held various positions in the UK, beginning his book career as a bookseller and department manager at London's Foyles Bookstore in 1978. From 1982 to 1989, he worked in sales at Weald Publishers Representation Agency and at John Wiley & Sons (UK), and as director, Business and Professional Publishing, at McGraw-Hill Book Co. (UK).
