IDG Launches Blogfaction

Posted on June 25, 2005

IDG Entertainment has launched a gaming site called games.net that features content from another IDG website called blogfaction.com. Blogfaction.com is a network of blogs with unusual names like Sofasonic.com, BikiniGamer.com, Blogcore.com, Gamedrool.com and RatSkullRocks.com.

We get games.net and Blog Faction, but using words like Bikini gamer, drool and rat skull? Obviously, IDG is going after the coveted youth demographic. IDG's blog move similar to CNET's recent launch of 28 blogs, but it is more focused on gaming and young adults.

A downside to launching so many different domains is the extra branding required to promote all these sites. The blogs might be better off on IDG's site or a single domain.
