IDG Launches CSO Magazine

International Data Group (IDG), a technology media company, announced it will launch a new security publication and companion website for chief security officers (CSOs), chief information security officers (CISOs) and other executives undertaking with security tasks. Entitled CSO, the monthly publication will debut in September 2002, preceded by a companion website to launch at the end of this month. The website will carry editorial content from each print publication of CSO. CSO will be produced by CXO Media Inc., a subsidiary of IDG.

"In an increasingly vulnerable world, security has become central to any organization's success and longevity," says Kelly Conlin, president and CEO of IDG. "According to IDC, the worldwide market for IT security expected to reach $46 billion by 2005, therefore IDG is proud to announce the first magazine geared exclusively to the executives who create and control the budgets for security as well as manage and enforce security policies."

Editorial direction and development will be led by Lew McCreary, editorial director of CXO Media Inc., and Derek Slater, executive editor, CSO. Advertising and sales will be directed by Joe Levy, president and CEO of CXO Media and Computerworld. McCreary, Slater and Levy each bring multiple decades of publishing experience to their respective posts.

CSO's audience will be comprised of CSOs, CISOs and other executives who influence security strategy and purchasing at their companies. CSO will have a controlled circulation, targeted to the 25,000 CSOs (or comparative functional titles) in the Global 2000. Annual charter paid subscriptions for 12 issues will cost $64.95 and the magazine's cover price will be $6.95. The publication will be oversized and saddle-stitched. On average, each issue will be 64 pages plus covers, with a target 50/50-ad/edit ratio. CSO will have a 6pt coated cover stock & 50 lb. text stock with a trim size of 8-3/4" x 10-7/8".

CXO Media publishes CIO magazine (launched in 1987), cio.com and The CIO Insider. CXO Media serves CIOs, CEOs, CFOs, COOs and other corporate officers involved in technology business concerns. In addition to magazines and websites, CXO Media produces Executive Programs, a series of conferences that provide educational and networking opportunities for corporate and government leaders.
