IDG Names Jeff Edman CEO of PC World Communications

International Data Group (IDG), a media and research company, has announced the promotion of Jeff Edman to president and chief executive officer of PC World Communications, Inc. In his new, expanded role, Edman will oversee all business activities at the company's print publication, PC World, as well as its online operations, including pcworld.com, webshopper.com, and email newsletters. PC World has a circulation rate base of 1.25 million.
"Jeff is the ideal executive to take the helm at PC World Communications as it leverages the strength of its brand across its print and online properties," said Joe Levy, president and CEO of IDG Communications. "Under his leadership, PC World has surpassed its competition to become the world's largest computer magazine. I have every confidence in Jeff's ability to achieve the same success for PC World Communications as a whole, and manage the business into the next century."
Edman's responsibilities extend to the Internet and PC World Communications' growing online operations. A 14-year veteran of PC World, Edman joined the company in 1985 as Midwest advertising manager, subsequently moving up to positions as Eastern advertising director and advertising director for market development. In 1992, he was promoted to vice president of national accounts; the following year, he was named vice president, director of advertising. Edman jumped to associate publisher in 1995, and has served as PC World's publisher since 1997.
