IDG's InfoWorld Partners with Women in Technology International

Posted on October 19, 1998

InfoWorld, an enterprise computing newsweekly, announced it has formed a strategic partnership with Women in Technology International (WITI), an association for women in technology. Under the terms of the agreement, InfoWorld and WITI will develop a quarterly magazine, which will be a supplement to InfoWorld, targeted at women in technology.

The publication is designed as a resource for women in technology focusing on industry issues as well as business and career strategies. The editorial direction of the publication will be determined by InfoWorld, WITI and an advisory board devised of senior women representing a range of technology disciplines and market sectors. The publication will be designed, written and edited by InfoWorld staff. The first issue of the publication will be released on February 22, 1999 in conjunction with a WITI conference in Dallas.

"As the technology continues to evolve, so does the role of women in the IT industry," said Sandy Reed, editor-in-chief of InfoWorld. "In keeping with our commitment to providing our readers with the most comprehensive editorial to meet their needs, we are excited that this partnership with WITI allows us to be first IT publication to directly address issues facing women in technology today and for the future."

WITI was originally founded in 1989 as an email network designed to give women in technology more efficient access to a wide-range network of information and contacts in order to help them succeed on their projects. WITI is a rapidly growing global association of more than 6,000 professional women and men working in science and technology organizations. Currently, there are 18 WITI regional chapters across the United States.
