IDG's PC World Promotes Bob Ostrow to Publisher
Posted on January 19, 2000
Jeff Edman, president and CEO of PC World Communications, Inc., has announced the promotion of Bob Ostrow to publisher of PC World. Based in PC World's Framingham, Massachusetts office, Ostrow moves up from associate publisher/Advantage Marketing to direct the company's overall sales, marketing, and research activities -- in print, online, and events. He succeeds Edman, who was promoted earlier this month.
"Excellent marketing, strategic research, and customer-oriented selling are the hallmark of PC World," remarked Edman. "Bob's dedication, hard work, and intelligence make him the ideal candidate to assume these vital functions. And, his background in custom publishing and special projects makes him the perfect choice as the company continues to integrate pcworld.com and PC World Conferences into the product mix."
Associate publisher since last spring, Ostrow spearheaded PC World's custom publishing and strategic partnership efforts since the fall of 1998, when he was named director of Advantage Marketing. A 14-year veteran of PC World, Ostrow joined the publication as an account manager. In 1988, he moved to senior account manager. Two years later, he was named Eastern advertising manager, and in 1991, was promoted to Eastern advertising director. Ostrow graduated from State University New York at Albany, and currently lives near Boston with his wife and two children.
