IHRSA Debuts Get Active Magazine and Website

The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) has launched of a new bimonthly consumer publication called Get Active!, which will be distributed to more than 400,000 consumers through IHRSA's U.S. member health clubs. The debut issue is being distributed throughout the month of September.

"The mission of Get Active! magazine is to reinforce the readers' smart decision to adopt a healthy lifestyle," said Jay Ablondi, IHRSA's director of publishing. "It will offer articles and advice on exercise programs, nutrition, and beauty, as well as ways for readers to live happier, healthier lives in general."

In conjunction with the magazine, IHRSA will also launch a companion website, getactivemagazine.com. Visitors to the site will be able to access current and past Get Active! articles, health information, exercise and nutrition tips, and locate IHRSA clubs worldwide. Visitors will also be able to send a personalized email to their elected U.S. representatives on important health and fitness related issues.

The debut issue of Get Active! magazine includes features on the life-enhancing powers of exercise, how to begin an exercise regimen, how fitness can boost your finances, how to flex your political muscle, and an interview with Catherine Oxenberg and Casper Van Dien, stars of the Lifetime television reality series, I Married a Princess. In addition, the magazine will provide tips on training, nutrition, gear, and choosing a personal trainer. Every edition of Get Active! magazine will also consist of feature stories covering a variety of topics and the magazine will tell the personal stories of health club members who have achieved positive results in their fitness routines.

IHRSA has partnered with Basic Media Group, a Los Angeles-based custom publisher that specializes in health-related magazines. Basic Media will produce Get Active! magazine, as well as handle the primary advertising sales functions.
