Innova's Launch List Features Lifestyle Titles

Posted on June 11, 2004

Innova is a new publishing company that will offer hardcover books at softcover prices. Led by publishing industry veteran George Rubich, Innova is introducing six debut titles on topics ranging from parenting to skin care in Fall 2004. Rubich's background includes senior business roles for Simon & Schuster, Random House and Henry Holt and Company. Rubich also played a significant startup role with Broadway Books.

"George Rubich's passion and commitment to finding new ways to deliver value and quality to consumers is exciting," said Joelle Delbourgo, literary agent. "Innova Publishing presents an ingeniously simple and refreshing publishing model that makes sense. I'm delighted to have one of my clients' books on the company's first list, and look forward to continued partnership with Innova."

Innova said it is committed to providing books that cost less without sacrificing quality. In addition to original works, Innova is acquiring previously-published content, where sales had not been maximized under prior formats.

"We're taking an 'extreme makeover' approach to book publishing, as consumers have consistently indicated their desire for excellent, value-priced hardcover books with themes most relevant to their lives," said Rubich. "We formed Innova to meet consumers' inexhaustible need for practical information. During life-altering periods or lifestyle changes, such as the birth of a baby, a new commitment to self-improvement or a career move, people turn to books for answers, and Innova is providing beautifully-designed, enlightening and often inspiring works of non-fiction at incomparable prices."

Each of the six titles scheduled for release this fall are authored by experts in their respective fields. Among Innova's upcoming releases is The Smart Love Parent by husband and wife team Dr. Martha Heineman Pieper and Dr. William Pieper, who earlier this month released Addicted to Unhappiness. Additional upcoming titles from Innova include Secrets of Great Skin by Dr. David J. Goldberg, a board-certified dermatologist at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Comforting Your Crying Baby by Sandy Jones, a baby and infant care expert and author of six additional books on the subject. To date, Ms. Jones' books have sold over 600,000 copies.
