Instagram to Start Displaying Ads

Posted on October 10, 2013

Instagram is the fastest growing social network of late. The photo-centric network is now planning to add ads. When social networks add advertisements they tend to pitch them as natural and useful and even helpful to the user. Instagram says the ads will be "enjoyable." Free services do need advertisements to make money but they can turn off users if they are too intrusive or there are too many of them. Instagram announced the coming of the ads in a blog post.

"Our aim is to make any advertisements you see feel as natural to Instagram as the photos and videos many of you already enjoy from your favorite brands. After all, our team doesn't just build Instagram, we use it each and every day. We want these ads to be enjoyable and creative in much the same way you see engaging, high-quality ads when you flip through your favorite magazine."
