Is the U.S. Ready for Blogger Attacks?

Posted on February 12, 2006

Is the U.S. prepared for an all-out blogger assault? ABC is reporting that the US government recently conducted a wargame called Cyber Storm to test the response to an attack by anti-globalization activists, underground hackers and bloggers.

Participants confirmed parts of the worldwide simulation challenged government officials and industry executives to respond to deliberate misinformation campaigns and activist calls by Internet bloggers, online diarists whose "Web logs" include political rantings and musings about current events.
There was no indication on how much damage bloggers did to the U.S. economy and infrastructure during Cyber Storm but ABC News says the Homeland Security Department promises a full report on results from the exercise by summer. Preparing for a attack by hackers makes perfect sense but how much did the odd wargame test for an attack consisting of massive blog posts cost tax payers?
