Posted on February 15, 2000

gURL.com, a destination for teen girls on the iTurf network, has announced the formation of gURL Grants, a new scholarship program from gURL.com that will distribute financial awards to teenage girls for the pursuit of creative and intellectual interests. The first gURL Grants which can be used for anything from tuition to art supplies, travel expenses to film production equipment - will be awarded in April 2000.

Teenage Girls interested in receiving a gURL Grant will need to apply online at gURL.com. Applicants will be required to answer a series of questions about their proposed projects and develop a budget for the amount of money necessary to accomplish their goals. gURL Grant winners will be selected by the gURL.com founders, Rebecca Odes, Heather McDonald and Esther Drill. The grants will be awarded three times each year to correspond with the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons.

Rebecca Odes, Creative Director of gURL.com, said, ``gURL.com has always been about creating an environment for teen girls to express themselves freely. gURL Grants are designed to give teenage girls the freedom to explore their passions and interests in the real world.'' Heather McDonald, Director of Community for gURL.com, said, ``We are thrilled to be able to give back something to the gURL.com audience who, through their contributions and enthusiasm, have made gURL.com a thriving community.''
