IUMA Launches Artist Uplink

The Internet Underground Music Archive (IUMA) has released Artist Uplink, IUMA's free self-publishing website creation tool for emerging and unsigned bands. Artists will be able to log onto IUMA or Yahoo! Digital to access Artist Uplink to create free websites. As part of the rollout, Yahoo! users will have free access to Artist Uplink through Yahoo! Digital, Yahoo!'s new multimedia digital site launched last week.
Artists can use Artist Uplink to upload and edit bios, band member photos, tour dates, images, artwork, songs and lyrics. Once their content is uploaded, artists can customize their sites. All audio is available in streaming RealAudio and MP3 format. Once their sites are up, artists can activate message boards, email fan clubs and can sell music directly to fans.
"Artist Uplink is the next-generation tool for emerging artists," said Antony Brydon, general manager of IUMA. "Our artists have told us that they want more than a cookie-cutter page on someone else's site -- they want their own unique web sites. These artists already have creative control of their music, and Artist Uplink allows them to express the same level of creativity and individuality in their sites, and showcase their music to millions of Yahoo! users."
