J.K. Rowling's Baby Gets a Name

Posted on January 26, 2005

J.K. Rowlings new baby girl has now been given a name: it's Mackenzie Jean Rowling Murray. The British newspaper deems the name Mackenzie "novel" and "unusual," but we like it. The Mackenzie Clan name is a traditional one and no doubt the Scottish author's ancestry played some role in the choice. And it sure beats "Apple."

Ms. Rowling said on her website: "Neil and I are absolutely delighted to say that our new daughter arrived on Sunday evening. Her name is Mackenzie Murray (middle names Jean Rowling) and she is ridiculously beautiful, though I suppose I might be biased."
