J.K. Rowling's The Casual Vacancy Sells One Million Units in First Three Weeks

Little, Brown UK and Hachette Book Group announced today in a statement that J.K. Rowling's first adult novel The Casual Vacancy has sold one million copies in all formats. Rowling's publisher said that the sales included sales in all formats, in all territories. The book has been on sale for three weeks. It is number one in the UK, US, Australia, Canada and Ireland.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the book has sold 600,000 units in all formats in North America alone. 375,000 copies of the book were sold in the first six days alone.

The book has now dropped to No. 2 on The WSJ's hardcover fiction bestseller list for the week ended Oct. 7the after being number one the week before. the novel is currently #6 on Amazon's contemporary fiction bestseller list and #12 in books overall.
