Stieg Larsson, author of the Millennium Trilogy, was the first author to hit the 1 million mark.

"Amazon customers have been James Patterson fans far longer than 'Kindle' was a word in our vernacular," said Russ Grandinetti, Vice President of Kindle Content. "We're excited that his readers have embraced his many books on the Kindle platform, and we look forward to celebrating the 2 million mark in the future."

Patterson is the author of more than 65 books that span the genres of suspense, fantasy, romance, historical fiction and children's. His many books include the popular Alex Cross, Women's Murder Club and Maximum Ride series.
