Jason E. Klein Named Chief Executive Officer for Times Mirror Magazines

Jason E. Klein has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer in addition to President and Chief Operating Officer for Times Mirror Magazines, it was announced by Efrem Zimbalist III, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Times Mirror. Klein, 40, is now responsible for all aspects of the magazine company's operations including the strategic direction of the company, the day-to-day operations of its 20 consumer titles, and its financial and administrative affairs. He will continue to report to Zimbalist.

``Jason Klein has done an outstanding job as Chief Operating Officer, and this is a logical and expected progression in his responsibilities,'' said Zimbalist.

In December of 1999 Klein was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Times Mirror Magazines and subsequently named a Vice President of Times Mirror. Prior to that promotion, he had been Executive Vice President of Times Mirror Magazines since February of 1999.

Klein joined the magazine group as Senior Vice President in 1995 as Field & Stream celebrated its centennial, and added responsibility for Home Mechanix prior to its relaunch as Today's Homeowner with the September 1996 issue. Klein joined Times Mirror in 1993 as Director of Strategy for Professional Information in the New York corporate office.

Previously Klein spent six years with McKinsey and Company as Senior Engagement Manager in the consumer and media practice in New York and before that he was with Gillette's Personal Care Division in product management and was a consultant with Bain and Company. Klein received a B.A. from Dartmouth College and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in computer science and economics. He received a master's degree in business administration from Harvard University's Graduate School of Business Administration.
