Jay-Z's Memoir Decoded Coming Out in November

Posted on August 7, 2010

Jay-Z's rhyme-free memoir Decoded will arrive in bookstores in November. Rolling Stone reports that the book covers Jay-Z's youth in Brooklyn, dealing drugs as a teen and his hip-hop success. Jay-Z collaborated with former The Source editor Dream Hampton on the book. Jay-Z's friends and family were interviewed for the book. Jay-Z told Rolling Stone he has covered the topics in the past in songs, but the book allows more details.

Jay-Z explained the difference between a song and a book. He also says you don't have to rhyme in books. The book will likely be very popular with Jay-Z's fans and could be a holiday bestseller.

Jay-Z says, "It's not anything I haven't said in the past, in songs. It's just more detailed. A song is three minutes long. A book doesn't have to rhyme, and it has no time limit, so you can say exactly how everything went."

The rapper also sat down for an interview with Poppy Harlow at CNN Business as part of the promotion for his new book. Take a look:
