Jenkins Acquires Christian Writers Guild

Jerry B. Jenkins, most recently known for his blockbuster Left Behind Series with Tim LaHaye, has purchased the Christian Writers Guild from founder Norman Rohrer in an agreement effective June 1. The Christian Writers Guild has 400 active students taking a curriculum of 48 lessons over three years. The goal of the Guild is to equip and inspire a generation of Christian writers.
"I feel moments of loss over the sale of the Guild, but I can't think of anyone I rather have take the reins," Rohrer said, "Jerry is well equipped emotionally and professionally to expand and add a new dimension to the Guild."
Jenkin's motivation in purchasing the Christian Writers Guild is "to give back to the writing community." Jenkin's desire is to see the level of skill and craft in the Christian writing market continue to grow and crossover. He pledges that proceeds from the organization will be used to improve writing in the inspirational market.
"One of the biggest sacrifices I've made with the success of the Left Behind Series is that I have been too busy to participate in as many writers' conferences and college teaching opportunities as I used to," Jenkins says, "I really miss it and feel a need to do something to contribute."
Jenkins, who has authored more than 140 books, will be personally involved in the Christian Writers Guild activities. Initially, his role includes overseeing the business transition, expanding the Guild's activities and outreach, and updating the organizations' promotion. Rohrer will continue with the Guild as Dean. All business operations will transfer to the Guild's new headquarters in Colorado Springs.
