John Grisham Discusses the New TV Series, The Firm

Posted on January 6, 2012

Bestselling author John Grisham sat down with The Today Show's Matt Lauer to talk about the new TV series, The Firm, which is based on the bestselling 1991 novel. It was Grisham's first hit. The TV show stars the same character, lawyer Mitch McDeere, and picks up his story 10 years later. Mitch has left the witness protection program, but can't seem to escape his former life.

Mitch McDeere is played by actor Josh Lucas. He was played by Tom Cruise in the 1993 film. The series also stars Callum Keith Rennie, Molly Parker, Juliette Lewis, Natasha Calis and Tricia Helfer.

Grisham says he read a spec script for the new TV show, which he liked a lot. He said he was really disappointed with the TV version of The Client, but loves this new show. He said he does give input on the show and reads all the scripts. The show debuts with a two hour premiere this Sunday night on NBC. Take a look:
