With all the advertisements and magazine articles about skin care, consumers are bombarded with often conflicting information about caring for skin. Charles B. Inlander, the president of the People's Medical Society wrote this book to clear up the confusion about basic skin care.
The first chapter is entitled, "Understanding the Skin" and details the functions and anatomy of the skin, as well as descriptions of the changes skin goes through in a lifetime and common skin problems. The second chapter covers skin care basics such as maintenance, the sun, nutrition, rest and exercise. The third chapter covers advanced skin products and procedures including guidelines for cosmetics, masks, facials, exfoliators, alpha-hydroxy acids, retin-A and advanced dermatologic procedures. The last chapter is a treatment guide to 50 common skin conditions.
The descriptions and explanations are simple and easy to follow and the advice is practical and easy to implement. A good, basic primer on skin care.
