Simon & Schuster to Publish Dystopian Novel by Kendall and Kylie Jenner
Posted on June 28, 2012
You might want to sit down for this one. Kendall and Kylie Jenner, best known as the younger Kardashian sisters, have landed a book deal with Karen Hunter Publishing / Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. The untitled book will be a dystopian novel that follows two sisters on a journey filled with "terror, mystery, drama and love." The novel is slated for a Summer 2013 release.
Karen Hunter, publisher of Karen Hunter Publishing, said in a statement, "This book will be a surprising departure for Kendall and Kylie, but one I think readers will enjoy. I'm delighted to be working with Kendall and Kylie on this project."
E! has more details about the project. The girls reportedly brainstormed the concept for the novel, which is set 200 years in the future. Mom Kris Jenner sent the girls' notes off to their manager, which led to it being published by Karen Hunter. The teen girls - who say their favorite high school subject is English and that they are "huge Harry Potter and Hunger Games fans" - will not be writing the novel themselves. Author Maya Sloane has been hired as a co-writer.
So to sum up -- 14 year-old Kylie and 16 year-old Kendall have a major book contract with Simon and Schuster even though they are not actually writing the book. We just thought you'd want to know.
Update: The book is called Rebels: City of Indra: The Story of Lex and Livia.
