Knopf Publishing Authorized Biography of Margaret Thatcher in May

Posted on April 23, 2013

On May 21st, Knopf will publish volume one of the authorized biography of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Margaret Thatcher: From Grantham to the Falklands is the first of a two volume set written by journalist Charles Moore. Knopf is planning a first print run of 100,000 copies.

Moore was given unrestricted access to all Lady Thatcher's papers, unpublished interviews with her and her personal correspondence. No author before Moore has had access to all the letters Lady Thatcher wrote over the years to her sister Muriel. Moore's book explores her early romances, and her courtship and marriage to Denis Thatcher.

The book also depicts Lady Thatcher's determination and how she made her mark in a traditionally male enclave. The book explores her friendship with former president Ronald Reagan and her difficult relationship with Alexander Haig. Volume 1 ends with her victory in the Falklands.
