Kyle Mills Will Take Over the Bestselling Mitch Rapp Series by the Late Vince Flynn
Posted on June 25, 2014
Bestselling author Vince Flynn died last year at the age of 47, but his popular Mitch Rapp novels will live on. Flynn's family and his long-time editor Emily Bestler announced that the series will now be written by bestselling author Kyle Mills. Flynn had 15 million of his books in print. He wrote political thrillers. His popular character Mitch Rapp is a CIA counter-terrorism expert who faces numerous threats.
Mills has published thirteen thrillers of his own, including Fade and The Ares Decision. Mills will finish the book Flynn was writing when he died after a long battle with prostate cancer. The novel, Survivor, is set for release in 2015. Mills is under contract for two more books in the series.
Mills said in a statement, "I am really honored to have been asked to continue the Mitch Rapp series. Vince was a great guy who helped me out in my career and as a diehard Rapp fan, I know how devastated his readers are. They are big shoes to fill, but I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing an iconic thriller character."
Emily Bestler was Flynn's first and only editor. She is the Senior VP and Editor-in-Chief of Emily Bestler Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster's Atria Books. Emily had this to say about the decision: "Vince and Mitch Rapp are so beloved by readers. It's wonderful that we've found just the right partner to uphold the legacy of both."
