Ladbrokes Posts Odds on Who Will Win the Nobel Prize for Literature

Posted on September 28, 2011

The Guardian reports that the Syrian poet Adonis has the best odds for winning the 20011 Nobel Prize for Literature. His odds for winning are 4-1. Swedish author Tomas Transtromer stacks up at 9/2, Thomas Pynchon is a 10/1 shot for winning, Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami is has a dismal chance at 16-1.

Nepali poet Rajendra Bhandari and Indian poet K Satchidanandan, are down in the dumps with lowly 20/1 odds of winning. The anchorman is Bob Dylan. Dylan is the real longshot here, with a 100/1 odds.

We have to wonder: have fortunes been won and lost by betting on who will win the Nobel Prize for Literature?
