Laini Taylor Inks Deal for New Fantasy Trilogy

Posted on May 17, 2015

Bestselling young adult author Laini Taylor just inked a three book deal for her next three novels. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will publish the new trilogy which begins with The Muse of Nightmares

Ms. Taylor burst on the scene with her New York Times bestselling young adult trilogy, The Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The books have a large fan base and the trilogy was optioned to be a feature film, although that is still in development.

She describes The Muse of Nightmares this way: "There was a war between men and gods, and men won. The few surviving children of the gods have grown up in hiding, dreading the day they know must come: when humans find them, and end them. That day is at hand." She says her publisher has asked her to be a bit vague, as the book does not come out until fall of 2016.

On her blog, Laini, explains a bit more. She says that the story has lived in her head for 20 years or so. She didn't have the details, but the main character has been clear to her for a long time. After she finished Dreams of Gods and Monsters, she said it felt exciting to have a blank slate ahead of her. So she asked herself "If If I could write aaaanythiiiing right now, what would it be?"

She wrote pitches for several of the ideas and sent them off. Her agent Jane Putch and her publisher loved them, and a new trilogy was born. We loved The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series and can't wait to read the new series.
