Las Vegas Sun and In Business Combine Business Editorial Staffs

Posted on November 30, 2001

Michael J. Kelley, Las Vegas Sun managing editor, and Bruce Spotleson, In Business Las Vegas publisher, announced that the Sun and In Business staffs will join together to create one comprehensive team to cover business news in Southern Nevada and the Southwest. The In Business editorial staff is expected to relocate to the Sun offices the week of Dec. 10.

``The merger will strengthen both publications. The Sun's strong resources in gaming and tourism coverage, for example, will enhance coverage of those industries in In Business,'' Kelley said. ``In Business reporters -- already known for strong coverage of real estate, finance and utilities -- will employ their expertise for improved coverage of these areas in the Sun,'' he said.

Steve Green, Sun business editor, will lead the combined business team, while Kirk Kern, In Business managing editor, will add the title of Sun assistant business editor to his responsibilities. Kelley will be responsible for news content of In Business and Spotleson will continue to lead business operations, including advertising sales and circulation.

In Business is published by the Greenspun Media Group (GMG). GMG's primary businesses also include the weekly newspaper and magazine publications Las Vegas Life magazine, Las Vegas Weekly, The Ralston Report, ShowBiz Japan, ShowBiz Weekly and VegasGolfer magazine. GMG also consists of the Sun, the website Vegas.com and Las Vegas ONE, an all-news cable channel.
