Entertainment Weekly reports that screenwriter Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Maleficent) has been hired to write the sequel to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. Woolverton wrote the screenplay for the first film and the powers that be at Disney want her back.

In the first film Johnny Depp starred as the Mad Hatter. Alice was played by Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway portrayed the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter played the Red Queen. The film got mixed reviews but made quite a bit of money. So far there is no word as to whether Tim Burton and the same cast will return.
