Madavor Media Acquires The Writer Magazine

Madavor Media, a Boston-based media company, has announced the acquisition of The Writer magazine and its website from Kalmbach Publishing Co. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

The Writer editor Jeff Reich announced last month that the magazine was going on hiatus and would be seeking a buyer.

Madavor Media VP/Group Publisher Susan Fitzgerald said in a statement, "We are excited to include these brands in our lineup and to find innovative ways to expand them in new markets. We will continue to deliver the quality and authoritative content readers and advertisers expect, and we intend to take both magazines to new and engaging places."

Madavor also acquired BirdWatching magazine from Kalmbach in the deal. The Writer and BirdWatching will join Madavor's other titles, which include FOAM, JazzTimes, International Figure Skating, Gluten-Free Living, Fairways + Greens, Teddy Bear & Friends, Doll Reader, Inside Arts and Volleyball.
