Man Booker Prize Winner Howard Jacobson Gets Big Print Run

Posted on October 14, 2010

Howard Jacobson won this year's Man Booker Prize for Fiction. The Man Booker Prize includes a cash prize of 50,000 pounds, but there is also the extra bonus of increased book sales and exposure. BBC News reports that Jacobson's publisher Bloomsbury will print 150,000 fresh copies of his novel, The Finkler Question.

A spokeswoman for the publisher said it had ordered a "very large" reprint "to cover immediate stock needs".
Nielsen BookScan data indicates Jacobson's novel sold just 8,500 copies before it was announced as the winner.

Howard Jacobson joked that he will spend the 50,000 cash prize on a handbag for his wife.
