Maria Bello Inks Memoir Deal With Dey Street Books

Posted on June 12, 2014

Maria Bello has inked a deal with Dey Street Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, for a memoir based on her New York Times essay called Coming Out as a Modern Family in which she had to tell her twelve year old son that her new partner was a woman. He replied "Whatevs, love is love."

The essay caused a bit of a furor and the rush of interest lead to a book project.

The book will be released in winter, 2015. In it, Maria writes about all the partners in her life, both romantic and platonic and how her thoughts about relationshiphs have evolved over the years. The book is currently titled Miracles and Madness.

Bello said in a statement, "As my son said, ''whatever -- love is love." I know there are many "whatevers" out there and am thrilled that Dey Street/Harper Collins is interested in opening up the conversation to a bigger audience -- the conversation being that the only labels we have are the ones we give ourselves."
