Media Mogul Barry Diller and Producer Scott Rudin in Talks to Start Ebook Business

Posted on July 22, 2012

Billionaire media mogul Barry Diller is considering getting into the ebook business. Deadline reports that Diller has been having some serious talks with movie producer Scott Rudin (True Grit, The Social Network, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) about starting a new ebook business which will publish both fiction and nonfiction.

Deadline expects the duo to launch a new company with major investment capital behind it. No details are available, but it's clear that if these two major players get involved, it could be a very big deal indeed. From news to Broadway musicals to running a major movie studio -- between the two of them there's not much they don't know about media of all kinds. We're guessing they'll steal someone really big in the book biz to run the new venture. This could be a very nice opportunity for publishing professionals and for writers. Certainly any new company would be well-funded.
