Megyn Kelly Lands $10 Million Book Deal
Posted on February 5, 2016
Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly just landed a major book deal with HarperCollins. The publisher announced the deal today. The book will be released by the imprint Harper in the fall of 2016. No details have been released about the book, but it seems likely that it will focus on her time moderating several Republican primary debates for Fox News and her now legendary feud with Donald Trump.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Deadline reports that it is in the $10 - $11 million range. The book will be edited by executive editor Matt Harper. Lisa Sharkey, senior vice president director of creative development acquired the title. Ms Sharkey had this to say about the deal: "Megyn Kelly is among the most interesting and influential people in America today and we are thrilled to be publishing her first book. This book is coming out at the perfect time and is bound to be one of the most read and talked about books of the fall." Yes, that means she's going to talk about Trump.
Megyn was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy told her he thought she did a good job as moderator at the first GOP debate. Megyn replied, "Donald Trump did not feel the same." She defended her line of questioning saying, "He got a tough question, but they all got tough questions. I mean, they want George Washington's job. So, I'm a member of the press, and we’re supposed to press, and see if they're worthy."
He asked Kelly if her life had changed after that debate, in which she and Donald Trump really got into it. She said, "So it changed a little. Like, I can no longer go on Twitter."
Megyn said that landing in a feud with a presidential candidate caught her by surprise. She said, "We never anticipated anybody would react to the questions in that particular way. But [I] sort of keep my head down and shoulders back and try to forge forward."
Trump boycotted the most recent debate on Fox because Megyn's boss Roger Ailes released a press release poking of the Donald and his ability to be tough with foreign leaders such as Vladimir Putin. The boycott caught Fox by surprise. In fact everything about this election seems to have caught Fox -- and every other news organization by surprise.
Megyn is scheduled to moderate the next GOP debate on Fox. ABC News
