Melissa Gilbert to Publish Children's Book, Daisy and Josephine

Melissa Gilbert will publish her first children's picture book, Daisy and Josephine, on January 28, 2014. The book is being illustrated by Julia Kuo and published by Paul Wiseman Books, a Simon & Schuster imprint.

Daisy and Josephine tells the story of a little girl named Daisy who takes trips with her father who travels frequently for work. Daisy is very shy and gets lonely on the trips so her father gives her a puppy named Josephine. The story tells the tale of the friendship that grows between Daisy and her rambunctious new puppy.

Melissa Gilbert said in a statement, "I'm so excited to share the story of Daisy and Josephine. I hope it will inspire children to be brave, to sing, and to always, always shine brightly!"

Melissa Gilbert's first book, Priarie Tale, was a New York Times bestseller.
