Meltwater Group Buys IceRocket Social Search Engine

Posted on August 5, 2011

Meltwater Group has purchased the IceRocket search engine. IceRocket is a social search engine with special tabs for searching blogs, Twitter and Facebook. Meltwater says IceRocket will continue operate as a standalone search engine.

Blake Rhodes, IceRocket founder, says, "Since its launch in 2004, IceRocket has been at the forefront of social search - starting with blog searches and later expanding to social networking and microblogs. That's why we're thrilled about this acquisition and the potential to take social search to the next level. IceRocket's integration with Meltwater Buzz will provide access to more sophisticated capabilities, such as measuring and analyzing social engagement and influence. We're excited for this next chapter."

The Twitter results from IceRocket are useful. It provides the latest results from Twitter on your search with the tweet and a link to the Twitter account of the user who tweeted it. You can also search for just links and hashtags.
