Michael Bond to Publish New Paddington Bear Book called Love From Paddington

Posted on April 10, 2014

Michael Bond is writing a new Paddington Bear book called Love From Paddington. The Guardian reports that the 88 year old author is going strong and still loves writing about Paddington Bear. Paddington was first introduced to readers in 1958 and Bond says the book was never particularly aimed at children.

The new book will be in Paddington's voice in the form of a series of letters Paddington writes to his Aunt Lucy who loves in a home for retired bears in Lima, Peru. Paddington will write to his beloved aunt about his first arrival in London and meeting the Brown family at Paddington station. Bond explained, "it isn't generally known, but bears are very good at writing letters". We did not know that, but are looking forward to hearing Paddington's take on his adventures.

The book will be published by HarperCollins in November to coincide with the Paddington Bear movie which stars Colin Firth as the voice of Paddington. The film also stars Nicole Kdiman, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walter, Jim Broadbent and Hugh Bonneville. Here is the first teaser trailer:
