Microsoft and CMP Media Create TechNet Magazine
Posted on June 4, 2004
Microsoft Corporation and CMP Media are scheduled to publish TechNet Magazine, in conjunction with MSDN Magazine's security-focused issue, due out in Fall 2004. The special edition is targeted to IT professionals and will feature security articles, such as "Integrated Security for Windows and Unix" and "Protecting Passwords: Secrets Revealed." The special edition will be created and managed by the same team that produces MSDN Magazine.
Grant Duers, Director of MSDN Magazine, said, "As everyone in the business knows, system security is an extremely complex and challenging area. Microsoft and CMP conducted extensive research in the market space and found a lack of high quality security information for the IT professional. The TechNet Magazine special edition will provide the kind of information and real-world solutions that have been missing."
The special edition magazine will be distributed to Microsoft's TechNet community. In addition, the magazine will be available to IT Professionals and sold on the newsstand. TechNet Magazine will replicate the MSDN Magazine model of full online content available when the magazine reaches the newsstand.
Joshua Trupin, Executive Editor of MSDN Magazine, said, "Security in the IT space means much more than just patch management. TechNet Magazine will provide in-depth, hands-on information that IT professionals can use in their daily work, from recognizing and preventing hacking attempts to securing passwords and fortifying networked systems. Just as MSDN Magazine offers the deepest coverage for the developer, TechNet Magazine will provide detailed analysis and real assistance for the top security issues in the IT space."
TechNet is an information and community resource designed for IT professionals. The TechNet program currently includes the TechNet website, TechNet CD/DVD Subscription, technical briefings including events and webcasts, TechNet Flash Newsletter, and TechNet Software Assurance benefits. TechNet Magazine is part of the Microsoft TechNet family.
